After mailing your NEW member form and fee, you will receive a Membership Packet with a Membership Booklet. Since MDHSA is a part time office, please allow 3-4 weeks. Please read the booklet carefully to learn of your MDHSA benefits, calendar of activities, how to use the Resource Center, how to renew your membership next year, and more. You will also receive a MDHSA family membership card. This card will prove that you are a homeschooler to businesses such as Borders who give discounts to homeschoolers. Each year that you renew your membership, you will receive a sticker to put on your card to keep it current. If you lose the card, there will be a $3 replacement fee.

You will receive a Newsletter for the months of August - December and February - June.  The membership year runs from July 1 to June 30.  If you join anytime from July 1 to Decemeber 31 and pay the full annual fee, you will receive all newsletters back to August.  If you join after January 1 (for member year ending that coming June) and only pay the pro-rated 1/2 year fee, you will only be entitled to newsletters back to February.  Please contact MDHSA if you do not receive your newsletters within three week of joining - however, note there are no newsletters published in January and July.  If you opt to receive your newsletter and directory by e-mail, you will receive a $5 discount on the membership fee.  There is no discount if you join after January 1.  Be sure to check yes or no on your member form for receivng your newsletters and directory by e-mail.  You should also start getting announcements on the member activity e-mail loop within 3 weeks of joining.  If you do not receive these, please contact the MDHSA office.
